Question 6:

What is the DMX 6fire USB signal to noise ratio (SNR) and up to which samplerate can a signal be converted?

Answer 6:

•           24 Bit / 192 kHz A/D converter 114 dB (A) SNR* (In 1/2); typical: 111db (A) SNR

•           24 Bit / 192 kHz A/D converter 105 dB (A) SNR* (In 3/4); typical: 101db (A) SNR

•           24 Bit / 192 kHz D/A converter 114 dB (A) SNR* (Out 1-6); typical: 111db (A) SNR

* technical Data from the AD/DA Chip

Question 7:

What can I do if the control panel can not access the hardware?

Answer 7:

The Controlpanel needs the driver to communicate with the Hardware. Please verify the correct Installation of the driver in the Device Manager, „ Sound, Video- and Gamecontrollers”.

y

Question 8:

What is the impedance of the In- and Outputs?

Answer 8:

Line IN 1/2:                   0,5 V – 2,5 V

Line IN 3/4:                   2,5 V

Instrument IN:               100 mV – 3 V

XLR MIC:                     10 mV (without PAD) – 1,6 V (with PAD)

Consumer MIC: 15 mV – 1,8 V

Line OUT 1-6:               2,5 V

y

Question 9:

Why is it not possible to hear Midi sounds?

Answer 9:

Because the DMX 6fire is a pure I/O-card for HD-recording and software synthesizers and is not able to generate Midi sounds from its hardware
on its own. To play
Midi sounds you'll need to use a virtual synthesizer (softsynth) or hook-up a Midi hardware device to the Midi-Out port.

Question 10:

Can I uplink to other DMX 6fire devices?

Answer 10:

No .

y

Question 11:

Is it possible to use Steinbergs Cubase VST together with the DMX 6fire USB?

Answer 11

Yes. Because the DMX 6fire USB is equipped with the latest ASIO 2.0 Drivers, very low Latency is possible.

Line Out 3/4      = Center / Subwoofer

Line Out 5/6      = Rear Left / Rear Right

Question 13:

What level can be applied to the analog input and what it the typical SNR of the Inputs?

Answer 13:

The analog inputs are build for the Line-level-signals (up to 2,5 Vrms) and the typical SNR are 111db.

y

Question 14:

What latencies can I achieve in ASIO mode?

Answer 14:

Latencies of less than 4ms are possible on modern, well-configured systems

y

Question 15:

What impedances and which output voltage do I need for the best performance of the phono input?

Answer 15:

Input-Impedance:           47 kΩ

Input-capacitance:         100 pF

y

Question 16:

Why is my S/PDIF IN not audible when I set the samplerate higher than 96 kHz?

Answer 16:

Up to 96 kHz are only for the S/PDIF I/O’s available. Higher samplerates are only for the analog inputs.

y

Question 17:

Why I don’t hear any noise after switching from Multi Channel to Multi Device under Windows XP (32-bits and 64-bits)?

Answer 17:

Thank Microsoft! All settings under “Start ->control panel -> sounds” will be lost after switching from Multi Channel to Multi Device (or vice versa) and the DMX 6Fire USB is no longer the standard device. Please verify the configuration each time you change the driver.
